Before Surgery

  • You can eat up to two hours before your scheduled surgery time. After that, fast, including water.

  • When eating, eat less than you normally would.
  • If you are taking aspirin, consult your surgeon.
    In most cases, it is possible to take it.
  • Please be sure to take your blood pressure or diabetes medications before visiting the hospital.
  • Most people taking warfarin (a medicine taken after heart valve surgery) can have the surgery without problems, but consultation with a surgeon is required.

After Surgery

  • Follow the hospital’s instruction on wearing stockings.
  • The patient must visit the hospital on the following day after the surgery, but in inevitable cases, the patient can visit the hospital after 7 days. For details, please consult with the attending doctor.
  • There is no need to worry about bruising on the legs after surgery as it is a natural healing process.
  • The patient can take a shower on the following day after the surgery.
  • When taking other medications in the hospital, please inform the attending doctor.
